NEWS BULLETIN! FRESH AIR IN LOS ANGELES!!

Lane Kiffin is out as USC's head football coach and a wave of fresh air is already cleansing the Trojans' football program. The squad has been lackluster and disorganized, this season, and the brand of football has been barely endurable and completely un-entertaining.

I know that Kiffin and the program have been saddled with sanctions. Their numbers are down. Their talent is stretched and their recruiting has been hampered, but Kiffin was supposed to be a great recruiter and a phenomenal offensive mind. None of that has been apparent this season, and you can throw most of last season into that mix as well.

Kiffin may just be his own worst enemy. The guy may be a gem privately, but publicly his attitude, smugness, and constipated sideline persona were a turn-off to recruits, their parents, and most of college football America. Like it or not, this is an age of television and instantaneous global communications. A smile and some enthusiasm will go a long way, even if they are less than sincere.

I can say this. Kiffin did it his way! He did it "his way" with the Raiders, with Tennessee, and with the Trojans. I thought he got screwed by Al Davis and I gave Kiffin a pass when he left the Vols after one season to take his dream job at USC. Now, I'm not so sure that Al Davis was as crazy as he seemed. Okay, I am still sure of that, but Kiffin has left a littered trail from Oakland to Knoxville, to Los Angeles. One can only wonder, who will be cleaning up after him next.

LB Law-
USC should have no trouble landing a top-notch  football coach.
The Trojans' job is still respected and coveted.
Pat Haden is a class Athletic Director to work with.
The money is good.
NCCA sanctions will be lifted after next season
which should help recruiting
and the new guy will get a short "honeymoon" period for being the man who cleaned up after the USC football train wreck of 2013.
