REMEMBERING CHICK!

Hard to believe,
but it was 13 years ago
 that Chick Hearn passed away.

The legendary Voice of the Lakers,
was silenced by a head trauma at the age of 85.

I was fortunate to work alongside Chick,
for many years,
on the Lakers' television and radio broadcasts.

Chick called his first Lakers game in March 1961.

His last game was June 12, 2002

when the Lakers beat the New Jersey Nets

to sweep the NBA Finals

and win their ninth title for Los Angeles.

 In between,

Chick put together a streak of calling

 3,338 consecutive Lakers' games.
--

When Chick died August 5, 2002,

Jerry West said

" The City of Los Angeles has lost an incredible icon."

Magic Johnson said,

"There is never going to be another Chick Hearn."

They were both correct!

R.I.P. Chick!
